“Jung Woo-sung video” comment section closed by Blue Dragon Film Awards: Hashtag reads “Jung Woo-sung’s sincerity”

On Nov 30th, a post titled “Blue Dragon Film Awards official account hashtag #BlueDragon’sSincerity #JungWooSung’sSincerity” was uploaded on various online communities such as Theqoo, drawing attention.
The post included a screenshot of a video uploaded by the Blue Dragon Film Awards’ official Instagram account, featuring Jung Woo-sung publicly apologizing for his scandal during the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards on Nov 29th. The post was captioned with phrases emphasizing “sincerity”.

During the event, Jung Woo-sung, alongside actor Hwang Jung-min, presented the Audience Choice Award. While Hwang Jung-min displayed a bright demeanor, Jung Woo-sung appeared visibly tense.
Before presenting the award, he addressed his scandal, saying, “I stand here today with those who worked on ‘12.12: The Day’ hoping my personal matters won’t leave a stain on the film. I sincerely apologize to those who loved and supported me, for causing concern and disappointment. I will bear all the criticism and take full responsibility as a father.”
Despite his apology, netizens remained critical, accusing him of disrupting the atmosphere with his somber demeanor. Criticism also targeted the Blue Dragon Film Awards for providing him with a platform to apologize while neglecting a tribute for the late actress Kim Soo-mi.

In response to the backlash, the Blue Dragon Film Awards disabled comments on Jung Woo-sung’s apology video alone, further fueling outrage. Online community users voiced their dissatisfaction, with comments like: “Do they even know the meaning of sincerity?”, “If you’re sincere, show it to the child’s mother instead”, “Why turn a film awards ceremony into a platform to apologize?”…
The decision to block comments while promoting “sincerity” has left many questioning the awards ceremony’s integrity.
