On the afternoon of the 27th, a press conference for the TVING original series “Queen Woo” (written by Lee Byeong-hak and directed by Jung Se-gyo) was held at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Yongsan, Seoul. The event was attended by actors Jeon Jong-seo, Kim Mu-yeol, Jeong Yu-mi, Lee Soo-hyuk, as well as PD Jung Se-gyo and writer Lee Byeong-hak.

“The Queen Woo” is a historical action drama about Queen Woo, who becomes the target of five tribes and princes vying for the throne after the sudden death of the king. She must struggle to install a new king within 24 hours.

The series centers on the story of Queen Woo, who is reappointed as queen through the traditional practice of “hyungsa chwisuhon” (where a younger brother continues a marital relationship with his deceased brother’s wife). After the king’s death, Queen Woo leaves the palace to personally choose the next king and place him on the throne, thus securing her position as queen. The drama depicts her intense 24 hours and aims to present a strong and independent female character.

Jung Yoo-mi plays Woo-sun, the most beautiful woman in the northern region, known for producing generations of queens. Although she once believed she would naturally become queen, she loses the coveted position due to her sister Woo-hee’s unexpected choice.

Talking about the controversial scene, actress Jung Yu Mi shared, “This is the first time I’ve taken on such a bold scene. I felt a lot of pressure, but I think it was a necessary part of the script. A scene like that was essential to create tension and drive the plot forward. I believe it was a powerful moment in portraying the character Woo Sun. When I decided to take on the role, I had in-depth discussions with the production team and worked hard to complete the scenes.”
