Bain, the first openly gay active K-pop idol, continues to inspire fans around the world with his courage and authenticity. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter published June 17, Bain described his coming out as not an end, but a powerful new beginning.
“For me, it’s a new beginning,” he said. “It feels like this fresh start is helping me open my heart and expand my perspective. I feel like I can dream even bigger now.”

The artist, who made headlines during JUST B’s JUST ODD tour stop in Los Angeles when he came out publicly, is already setting ambitious goals. Bain revealed that he’s eyeing an acting career in the U.S., saying, “I’d love to play the role of a gay friend in a teen drama.” He also teased solo music projects, adding, “I’m considering work where I can tell my story more honestly.”
Despite the challenges of being a trailblazer in a traditionally conservative industry, Bain has remained resilient. “The first few weeks [after coming out] were a bit tough,” he admitted. “I saw a lot of negative comments—but also many positive ones.”
Instead of avoiding online backlash, Bain chooses to confront it head-on. “I won’t say I’m blocking the comments—I’m enjoying it. Whether it’s good or bad, if you want to talk about me, I welcome it.”

Back in April, his bold declaration during the tour— “I’m proud to be a part of the LGBTQ community”—was met with cheers and global support. He honored Lady Gaga as a personal inspiration, saying, “My queen, Lady Gaga, showed me the beauty of being different. To anyone who is part of the LGBTQ+ community or still figuring things out—this is for you. You are seen. You are loved. You were born this way.”
With his heartfelt message and visionary goals, Bain is paving the way for greater visibility and acceptance in the K-pop industry. His journey is not only personal—it’s a powerful moment for an entire generation of queer fans and artists.
