The name KickFlip refers to a high-level skateboarding trick, in which the rider flips their skateboard 360° along the axis that extends from the nose to the tail of the deck.
Just as the trick propels the board forward in a new direction, the group’s name embodies their ambition to break free from conventional boundaries and make fresh strides in the industry.
JYP’s representative producer Park Jin-young revealed the group’s debut plans through a video content released at the “2024 MAMA Awards US” held in Los Angeles on November 21st (local time). The video included the phrase “We’ve been working on the final preparations for KickFlip’s debut next year” and a silhouette photo of the seven members was unveiled for the first time, drawing enthusiastic reactions.
KickFlip will kick off their debut album project at midnight on January 1st next year. Additional details about the group will be released gradually through the official website and social media channels.
