“Namib”, a K-drama starring Go Hyun-jung, Ryeoun, Yoon Sang-hyun, and Lee Jin-woo, is becoming the talk of town even before its premiere.
“Namib” follows producer Kang Soo-hyun (played by Go Hyun-jung), a famous music producer known for her distinctive tactics in pushing and creating idols. However, she was suddenly fired from her position as the co-CEO of Pandora Entertainment.

Soo-hyun is the breadwinner for her family, while her husband Shim Joon-seok (Yoon Sang-hyun) takes care of the house and their deaf son. As Soo-hyun tries to surge in the entertainment industry again, she approaches Yoo Jin-woo (Ryeoun), who has suffered from years of failure and a hefty family debt.
According to netizens, they can’t help but notice uncanny similarities between the setting of “Namib” and Min Hee-jin’s situation with HYBE.

In particular, Min Hee-jin is also well-known as an idol producer with distinctive trademarks, as she was behind various concepts for successful SM idol groups SHINee, f(x), Red Velvet, and later launched viral girl group NewJeans under HYBE.
However, Min Hee-jin was removed from her position as CEO of the HYBE-affiliated label ADOR in 2024, and has since resigned completely from the company, likely to pursue her own projects in the future.
Of course, there are some notable differences between Min Hee-jin’s story and “Namib”, but the resemblance was enough to draw attention, even appearing as a hot topic on popular Korean forums like “theqoo”.
