Seunghan, a member of SM’s rookie boy group RIIZE, caused controversy again
In September 2023, SM’s new boy group RIIZE made their debut with the single “Get a Guitar” and rapidly aroused keen attention. However, the group faced a backlash as soon as the debut project was announced due to the private life scandal of member Seunghan. It hasn’t been long since Seunghan apologized for the leaked dating photos, the male idol once again became the center of attention due to a leaked video of a controversial livestream conversation with Soobin from TXT, the junior group of BTS.
Early on November 11th, a video clip of RIIZE’s Seunghan spread rapidly in Korean online communities. In the video, Seunghan and a man with blonde hair (noted as TXT’s Soobin by the person who uploaded this video) had a conversation through Instagram livestream using their private accounts. In their conversation, the two kept teasing each other and dissing the skills of being an idol and “Music Bank” MC of someone. In addition, Soobin even showed a swearing gesture using his toe to respond to Seunghan.
What drew the most attention was that LE SSERAFIM’s youngest member Hong Eun-chae was mentioned in the two’s conversation. In particular, Seunghan received criticism for saying, “Meeting (or dating) or Eunchae”, as the female idol is only 18 years old and still a minor. In fact Eunchae and Soobin used to work together as “Music Bank” MCs.
Watching the video, Korean netizens showed mixed reactions. Many people criticized the rude behaviors of the two male idols and pointed out that they should have called each other on the phone instead of using SNS livestream to prevent leaking risks. Others, especially LE SSERAFIM fans, poured frustration and tried to protect Eunchae from personal attacks due to such an unrelated issue.
