Kang Ha-neul Clears Up His High School Popularity Rumor: Bought a House with Chocolates?

Actor Kang Ha-neul has finally addressed the long-standing rumor about his legendary popularity during his school days, and he did it with his signature mix of sincerity and humor.
On the April 23rd episode of tvN’s You Quiz on the Block, Kang Ha-neul appeared as a guest and got candid about his past. During the show, host Yoo Jae-suk brought up Kang’s high school graduation photo, praising his good looks and popularity at the time.
“There’s even a rumor that you received so many chocolates on Valentine’s Day that you could stack them up and buy a house,” Yoo also joked.

Laughing, Kang Ha-neul quickly waved it off, saying, “That’s absolutely not true. I probably got one or two, and that was it. My dad keeps telling people that story, and it’s honestly embarrassing. He’s the real ‘legend maker’ in the family.” He clarified that the story was an exaggerated tale cooked up by his fun-loving father.
When Yoo followed up by asking whether he had at least received love letters, Kang hesitated briefly before admitting with a smile, “I think I did, maybe once or twice.”

During the episode, Kang also opened up about his decision to attend Seoul’s Traditional Arts High School, the emotions he experienced moving from Busan to live in a dorm in Seoul, and the disappointments he faced before making his debut. His heartfelt stories struck a chord with many viewers.
Kang Ha-neul’s appearance was a warm reminder of his charm, an honest, down-to-earth star who isn’t afraid to poke fun at himself, even when clearing up urban legends from his past.
