Kangnam & Lee Sang-hwa’s Shocking Update After 7 Years of Marriage “Confession on Why They Haven’t Had Kids”

On the February 28 episode of MBN’s “Jun Hyun-moo‘s Plan 2″, Kangnam openly discussed their plans regarding having children.
He shared, “A lot of people ask us about kids, but Sang-hwa’s knees are in bad condition. She trained so much that she has cysts inside, and her bones are completely damaged. She has no cartilage at all, and her ankles are misaligned, causing her to trip over five times a day. Sometimes, she sprains her ankle just while walking. She always needs support when walking.” With this, Kangnam revealed that their decision to delay having children is largely due to his wife’s serious health issues.

He continued, “Sang-hwa has been an athlete for 25 years. If we have a child now, she wouldn’t be able to travel or fully enjoy life because of childcare responsibilities. That wouldn’t be fair to her. Since she’s already dealing with the aftereffects of her sports career, we decided to give her more time to enjoy life. We plan to have kids later on.” His heartfelt concern for his wife deeply resonated with viewers.
MC Jun Hyun-moo then interjected, “I completely agree with you. But on another show, I saw that your sperm condition is a mess. You’re in the bottom 10%, aren’t you?” The blunt comment caught Kangnam off guard. Stunned by the direct hit, he responded “I can have kids! It’s just that my level isn’t that high” before revealing that he had even undergone sperm freezing.

Back in December last year, Kangnam documented his visit to an infertility clinic on his YouTube channel. The test results shocked him—his sperm quality ranked in the bottom 10%, meaning he placed 90th out of 100. As a result, he decided to freeze his sperm.
Meanwhile, Kangnam debuted in 2011 as a member of the group M.I.B and gained popularity for his candid and humorous personality on variety shows. He and Lee Sang-hwa started dating after meeting on SBS’s “Law of the Jungle” and tied the knot in 2019 after a year of dating. Kangnam even went as far as naturalizing as a Korean citizen for his wife, earning praise for his devotion. Since their marriage, the couple has appeared on various entertainment programs, delighting viewers with their fun and affectionate dynamic.
