KATSEYE Faces International Backlash Over Disneyland Outing With Scooter Braun

Rising global girl group KATSEYE is under fire following an off-schedule appearance with HYBE America CEO Scooter Braun at Disneyland. What was seemingly a casual outing quickly spiraled into a full-blown online controversy particularly among international fans concerned about Zionist affiliations.

On June 1 (KST), fans and netizens spotted all six KATSEYE members spending the day at Disneyland with Scooter Braun and what appeared to be his family. Braun himself uploaded photos of the outing, captioning them, “Today was a great day.”

The backlash erupted almost immediately. Braun, a powerful figure in HYBE’s U.S. operations, is widely criticized for his open support of Zionism, a stance that has made him a controversial figure especially amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

For many fans especially those who are vocal supporters of the Palestinian cause seeing KATSEYE casually socializing with Braun felt like a betrayal.

“Weren’t some of them subtly supporting Palestine before? This isn’t subtle at all,” one X user wrote.

“You don’t get to have it both ways,” another added, calling for a boycott of KATSEYE’s upcoming promotions.

This isn’t the group’s first PR stumble either. The Disneyland outing comes on the heels of member Daniela’s recent controversy, which had already begun to fracture some of the goodwill KATSEYE had built with progressive fans.

The situation has reignited calls for economic boycotts and divestment from HYBE, with hashtags linking the group and agency to Zionist support trending across platforms like X and TikTok.

For now, KATSEYE and HYBE have remained silent—but fans are demanding a response, and the fallout could grow if ignored. In an era where K-pop idols are increasingly scrutinized for their affiliations, even off-schedule sightings can become flashpoints for global outrage.
