“Yumi’s Cells 3” Officially in Production: Kim Go Eun Returns, What To Expect?
According to a drama industry insider on March 31 via JTBC Entertainment News, “Yumi’s Cells” Season 3 will be produced three years after the conclusion of Season 2. The insider revealed, “TVING is making a full-fledged effort to move forward with the project, and Kim Go Eun will return as the lead. I’ve heard they are working hard to preserve the unique tone of the series.”
Regarding this, the series’ production company Studio Dragon confirmed, “It is true that we are producing Season 3. We have offered the lead role of Yumi to Kim Go Eun, and she is currently reviewing the offer.”
Season 3 of Yumi’s Cells reunites the original creative team and lead actress Kim Go-eun, heightening anticipation for another strong season. Yumi’s story takes a fresh turn with an unexpected romance, reigniting the energy of her inner “cell village,” where fan-favorite cells like Love, Rationality, Emotion, Writer, and Hunger return in full force.
Expressing her feelings about returning, Kim Go-eun shared,
“I’m honored and happy to continue Yumi’s story, which has received so much love from viewers. As an actor, portraying a single character over a long period is a very meaningful and special experience. With Season 3, I hope to capture the many turning points Yumi faces in her life. Since my journey with her began in 2021, I truly want to finish it well.”

“Yumi’s Cells” is a heartwarming and relatable romance drama about an ordinary woman named Yumi who eats, loves and grows together with cells. It garnered massive popularity for its unique format, which was the first in K-drama history to combine live-action and 3D animation, successfully capturing the charm of the original webtoon. The series achieved not only domestic success but also global recognition.
Season 2 deviated more from the original webtoon compared to Season 1, offering new entertainment. In Season 3, fans are especially excited as the story is expected to introduce Soonrok, Yumi’s final love interest in the webtoon — a character many have been eagerly waiting for. Yumi’s Cells Season 3 is scheduled to premiere on TVING in the first half of 2026.
