Kim Heechul Breaks into a Sweat as Memories of Ex-Girlfriend TWICE Momo Resurface
On the April 26th episode of JTBC’s Knowing Bros, a special “international couples” feature aired, featuring guests Kang Joo-eun, Shim Hyung-tak, and Park Joo-ho.
During the episode, Shim Hyung-tak shared the love story of how he met his Japanese wife, Saya. Having fallen for her at first sight, Shim Hyung-tak revealed how he persistently pursued her for five months before they officially became a couple.
Reflecting on the past, Shim Hyung-tak said, “Back then, I told Heechul, ‘I also have a Japanese girlfriend now. You had a Japanese girlfriend too, right?’” At that moment, the studio fell silent, and Kim Heechul awkwardly turned his head, unable to hide his discomfort.
Shim Hyung-tak’s remark inevitably reminded everyone of Kim Heechul’s past relationship with TWICE’s Momo. Heechul quickly tried to play it off, laughing and saying, “I thought he had forgotten, but his memory is pretty good,” but he couldn’t hide the sweat on his face. The cast members burst into laughter, while Heechul awkwardly tried to brush off the situation with a shy smile.
This is not the first time Momo has been mentioned on Knowing Bros. Knowing Bros has previously faced criticism for making jokes about Heechul and Momo’s relationship.
Meanwhile, Kim Heechul had publicly confirmed his relationship with TWICE member Momo in January 2020. Their romance drew significant attention, not only because of their popularity but also due to their nine-year age gap and Heechul’s long-standing admiration for Momo, which he had often playfully mentioned on variety shows before they started dating. However, the two broke up after about a year and a half of dating.
