On the morning of Nov 21st (local time), the Disney Content Showcase APAC 2024 took place at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

Kim Hye-soo, Jung Sung-il and director Yoo Seon-dong of “Unmasked” attended the event, engaging with the press during a Q&A session.

“Unmasked” centers around an investigative reporting crew persistently tracking cases that prosecutors and police have been unable to solve.

Kim Hye-soo, who plays team leader Oh So-ryong, explained the somewhat heavy theme.

We incorporated realistic episodes, including fake news. We tried to lighten the tone with wit and removed some of the weightiness. Each episode has a different mood. While we’ve aimed to make the messages easier and more enjoyable to grasp, the story we want to tell remains strong and clear.”

Kim Hye-soo also shared her experience of sustaining a thigh injury during filming. She recalled, “On a very cold winter day, I had to do a physically intense scene. I ruptured my right thigh muscle while running. I thought we could at least shoot my face since my leg was injured, but it turned out that wasn’t possible. I remember resetting everything and filming again. That scene ended up looking very dynamic.”

Kim Hye-soo did not forget to praise Jung Sung-il, who stars alongside her. She said, “Sung-il is inherently cheerful and genuine. His portrayal in his previous work, ‘The Glory’, feels like a result of pure acting. In this project, you’ll see another side of him—it may reflect aspects of his personality, but it’s also entirely new. He’s a much more profound actor than I expected. Early on, he amazed everyone with his intense presence. The entire cast and crew were captivated by his face and gaze.”

Jung Sung-il, who plays parachute PD Han Do, remarked on the contrast between the “crazy freak” label given to Kim Hye-soo’s character and Kim Hye-soo’s real-life demeanor. He added, “However, the assertiveness and drive of her character align closely with her natural personality. She’s incredibly straightforward and transparent, a truly genuine person.”
