Kim Hye-yoon to Lead Horror Film “A Place to Kill”: From Rom-Com Queen to Horror Queen

According to film industry insiders, Kim Hye-yoon has confirmed her appearance in the movie “A Place to Kill” (working title, directed by Lee Sang-min) and is currently preparing for filming. This marks her return to the big screen in 3 years since “Ditto” (2022), making it an even more welcome comeback.

The project, which has yet to finalize its title and is currently referred to as “A Place to Kill”, is a horror film set around the real-life reservoir Salmokji. The story is expected to deliver a fresh and chilling narrative built around various urban legends tied to the location, blending the unfamiliar with the familiar to showcase the power of Korean horror cinema.
At the center of the film is Kim Hye-yoon in a lead solo role. Having previously proven her cinematic prowess through her titular role in “The Girl on a Bulldozer” (2022), anticipation is high for how much she has grown and how she will carry the film entirely on her own this time.

Following her breakout success in last year’s smash-hit drama “Lovely Runner”, which solidified her as a rom-com queen, all eyes are now on whether Kim Hye-yoon can also claim the title of “Horror Queen” with this new film.
With this announcement, Kim Hye-yoon continues her momentum, following her upcoming SBS drama “Human from Today”. Her status as one of the busiest and most in-demand stars in the industry remains unshaken.
Meanwhile, “A Place to Kill” will be produced by The Lamp—known for “Taxi Driver”, “Samjin Company English Class” and “Escape” and distributed by Showbox. The film is currently in pre-production and is expected to begin filming within the year.
