“1 Trillion KRW in Assets” Kim Jaejoong Suffers Financial Hacking — Did He Lose Everything?

On May 7, Kim Jae Joong disclosed via the official fan platform “fromm” that his Kakao Pay account had been hacked. He explained that the hacker changed his account password without his knowledge, leaving him unable to access the account or respond effectively.
Kim Jaejoong Suffers Financial Hacking
Kim said he contacted customer service multiple times in an attempt to resolve the issue. However, even after more than an hour on the phone, the problem remained unresolved. He criticized the flawed system, saying, “Why am I expected to know the password that the hacker changed? Why does the victim have to prove the damage?“

He also shared a frustrating experience during the support process. “I was told I’d be connected to a different department, but it turned out to be the same department I spoke with initially. I mentally broke down,” he admitted. He added, “I understand the counselors are doing their best, but the system is seriously lacking,” expressing his dissatisfaction.
Fortunately, the issue was resolved within two days by terminating and deleting the account, and no further financial loss was reported. Kim sighed in relief, saying, “It was truly a terrifying day.“
This incident has not only raised concerns about personal privacy but has also unexpectedly reignited long-standing speculation about Kim Jae Joong’s immense wealth. Once dubbed the “secret chaebol” of K-pop, Kim is reportedly a holder of an exclusive black card—a credit card reserved for only the top 0.05% of Korea’s wealthiest individuals. According to multiple sources, his total assets are estimated to exceed 1 trillion KRW.
Working Not For High Pay, But For Passion
Though Kim Jae Joong began his career as a K-pop idol, he has steadily maintained a presence in the acting world—choosing roles not for high pay, but for passion. His sincere approach to acting, paired with his striking, almost surreal visuals and ever-improving skills, has earned him loyal fans and industry respect.
Despite his most recent drama, Bad Memory Eraser (2024) struggling in ratings, critics praised his emotionally layered performance, seeing him as more than just an idol. Known for dramas like Protect the Boss, Dr. Jin, and Triangle, he’s even earned the nickname “the actor who outshines the female leads” thanks to his captivating looks.
Meanwhile, Kim Jaejoong co-founded iNKODE Entertainment with former Cube Entertainment vice president Noh Hyun-tae in 2023 and has been active as a producer and entrepreneur.

Artists under iNKODE include Oh Ji-yul, Jung Si-hyun, Lee Ji-hoon, Kim Min-jae and Nicole. As a producer, Kim introduced the 7-member girl group Say My Name last year.
The incident has reignited discussions about cybersecurity in Korea’s digital financial platforms, especially for high-profile figures and celebrities.
