On the January 24th broadcast of KBS2’s variety show “Stars’ Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant”, Kim Jaejoong, the youngest of nine siblings with eight older sisters, shared his daily life.
That day, his eldest sister, fourth sister, and fifth sister gathered at their family home, drawing attention. Jaejoong revealed that when he was adopted, his first, second, and third sisters had already become independent, and “The sisters I lived with were from the fourth one onward.” He also explained that, instead of calling him “younger brother,” the sisters, who took on the role of raising him in place of their busy parents, referred to him as “son.”
Jaejoong recalled his early days when he moved to Seoul to pursue a career as a singer. He expressed gratitude toward his sisters for supporting him with transportation and dormitory fees. The sisters, saddened by how Jaejoong never expressed his struggles during his trainee days, shared, “It hurt us that you didn’t talk to us when you were having a hard time. You had eight older sisters, but you never called, worked part-time, and that was painful for us.”
The sisters also reminisced about the first time they met Jaejoong when he was adopted at age three. At that time, he was suffering from skin diseases and frequently had nosebleeds. The fourth sister shared how she found young Jaejoong walking in the yard after school. She also described how she felt sympathy as he struggled to eat his meals, often vomiting and eating again.
After his debut, Jaejoong revealed that he had learned about his adoption, which sparked public interest and speculation. He decided to speak out himself, saying, “I don’t think it’s important that I was adopted. What matters is the present, and now is what’s precious to me,” expressing his deep love for his family.
