Korean Veteran Actress Casts Overseas Vote from Czech Republic, Urges Participation in June 3 Election

Veteran actress Kim Ji-soo has made headlines not for a film role, but for fulfilling her civic duty from abroad. Currently traveling through Europe, Kim shared on May 23 that she cast her overseas vote in the Czech Republic ahead of South Korea’s upcoming June 3 presidential election.

Posting several photos on social media, Kim wrote, “I went to vote at the Korean embassy in the Czech Republic. The presidential election is on June 3, but those abroad have to vote early.”
In the pictures, she appears in front of the Korean Embassy in Prague, dressed casually in wide-fit pants and a floral-patterned jacket, umbrella in hand. She expressed gratitude to the embassy staff and volunteers, noting, “Thank you to the embassy staff and volunteers who welcomed me so kindly.”

Kim has been on an extended journey across Europe since November 2023, sharing glimpses of her travels in countries like Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Germany. In a previous post, she explained her trip as a much-needed break: “To momentarily escape the weariness of reality…”
Born in 1972, Kim Ji-soo debuted in 1992 via SBS’s second open audition and rose to stardom in 1998 with the MBC drama See and See Again. She later cemented her place in Korean cinema with Best New Actress honors at the Blue Dragon Film Awards for her 2005 performance in This Charming Girl.
Most recently, she appeared in the 2023 JTBC drama “Romance in the House” as Geum Ae-yeon, acting alongside Ji Jin-hee and Son Na-eun.
As the June 3 election approaches, Kim Ji-soo’s early voting serves as a gentle but powerful reminder for fellow citizens, both at home and abroad, to participate in shaping the country’s future.
