Kwon Mina Joins National Petition Against YouTuber Who Exposed Celebrities’ Private Lives
On March 11, Kwon Mina uploaded a single image to her social media account without any accompanying caption.
The image contained a notification stating, “Your agreement to the petition requesting strong legislative action by the National Assembly to prevent celebrity suicides caused by YouTube channels run by entertainment journalists has been successfully processed.”

This petition was registered last month, shortly after the death of actress Kim Sae-ron. It condemns entertainment reporters-turned-YouTubers for revealing private details and harming celebrities like Kim Sae-ron. The petition further demands, “YouTube and its content creators must have basic qualifications established, and strict regulations should be implemented for their videos and narratives, ensuring they meet standards comparable to those of traditional mass media.”
YouTuber that Distressed Kim Sae-ron Fiercely Condemned by Kwon Mina
On February 17, former AOA member Kwon Mina took to her personal account, mentioning what is believed to be the initials of former entertainment reporter Lee Jin-ho, who runs a YouTuber channel, and stating, “I don’t know this person at all, so I’m cautious, but as someone who has also been carelessly spoken about in the past, I find it disgusting how you act as if you know everything.”

She continued, “It’s like you’ve been watching us from up close for a long time, but in reality, you’re just spreading falsehoods and trying to brainwash people into thinking they’re facts. I couldn’t even finish watching the video—I had to turn it off.”
Kwon Mina also shared her past struggles, saying, “Back then, I was too scared to say anything and just cried from the pain. Honestly, I thought I was going to lose my mind. I’ve held back for so long, but seeing what happened this time made me furious, so I had to speak up. Even if you’re trying to reveal facts, you should also consider the harm you might be causing. Please be more careful and think from the other person’s perspective instead of just chasing views.”

Previously, Kwon Mina had expressed her condolences for Kim Sae-ron, writing, “It was a short but precious and joyful connection. Thank you. Rest in peace.”
Meanwhile, on February 17, director of the Korea Celebrity Suicide Prevention Association Kwon Young-chan, who met Kim Sae-ron’s father at her funeral, said, “I had many conversations with her father.”

Kwon shared that YouTuber A repeatedly invaded Kim Sae-ron’s privacy, including posting a video questioning her sincerity in self-reflection after she shared wedding-themed photos online. According to Kwon, YouTuber A previously uploaded a video titled “Kim Sae-ron Self-Deleted Again… Went Into Hiding After Marriage Rumors? We Tried Contacting Her” in response to Kim Sae-ron posting several wedding-themed photos on her social media in January. A had also made content about her financial struggles, further amplifying public scrutiny.
A is believed to be Lee Jin-ho, and following Kim Sae-ron’s passing, A deleted or privatized all related videos, facing backlash. “This is not just about competing for views – it destroyed a person’s life,” Kwon stated. “Everyone makes mistakes, and Kim Sae-ron was trying to move forward. A’s actions fueled criticism from other YouTubers and the public.”

Kwon confirmed that materials related to A’s content are being collected, and the bereaved family is considering legal action. “If they proceed with a lawsuit or file a complaint with the Press Arbitration Commission, we will provide full support free of charge.”
He also called for systemic measures against harmful content, stressing, “Celebrities are human too. Society must allow them a chance for a fresh start while protecting them from online harassment.”
Previously, Kim Sae-ron was found deceased at her home on February 16. Her funeral is being held at Seoul Asan Medical Center, with burial scheduled for February 19.
