Police Summons for Garosero Research Institute’s Kim Se-ui, Sued by Tzuyang and Kim Soo-hyun

Attention is focused on the police summons investigation of Kim Se-ui, the representative of the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute.

The case involving Tzuyang, who filed a lawsuit against Kim Se-ui in February for charges including coercion, extortion, violation of the Information and Communications Network Act (defamation), and violation of the Stalking Punishment Act, was initially dismissed or ruled as not guilty due to insufficient evidence. However, following an objection, a supplementary investigation is underway. Tzuyang completed her complainant investigation at Seoul Gangnam Police Station on May 9. The police notified Kim Se-ui of the investigation schedule regarding the so-called Tzuyang case, but it has been confirmed that Kim Se-ui postponed the investigation twice. It is reported that the reason for the delay was a lack of time due to the presidential election.
Tzuyang’s legal representative, Attorney Kim Tae-yeon, told SBS Entertainment News, “Even after the presidential election, we inquired with the responsible police officer, but we were told that the suspect’s investigation has still not taken place. The police mentioned they are considering visiting [Kim’s] residence to directly coordinate the schedule.”

Actor Kim Soo-hyun, who filed a lawsuit against Kim Se-ui in April for charges including violation of the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (distribution of filmed materials) and defamation, is also reported to have completed the complainant investigation.
A representative from Kim Soo-hyun’s side stated, “It’s difficult to provide specific details, but we understand that the suspect has postponed the investigation schedule twice. We are unaware of the reasons.”

As Kim Se-ui cited broadcasting duties related to the presidential election as the reason for not attending the summons, speculation is growing that the police investigation may be imminent, given that more than a week has passed since the election concluded. A police official reportedly stated, “If the suspect continues to fail to attend without justifiable reasons despite active summons requests, we cannot rule out the possibility of switching to compulsory measures, such as issuing an arrest warrant.”
With mounting pressure from multiple high-profile complainants and the police’s stated intention to consider compulsory measures, all eyes are now on how Kim Se-ui will respond in the coming days.
