Kim So-hyun Responds to “Unmotivated” Image: “Everyone Calls Me Grandma on Set”

In a video interview released by ELLE Korea on June 2, titled “This Is How to Follow Back Kim So-hyun, Who Only Follows 6,000 People”, the actress responded to ongoing commentary that she often looks lethargic or unenthusiastic.
“People often say I always look lethargic or unmotivated, but look—I’m smiling,” Kim So-hyun said with a warm laugh. “My reactions aren’t big, so even when I find something fun, people think I want to go home. The truth is, I just get shy and can’t express myself well.”

She also revealed a lighthearted nickname she’s earned among colleagues: “On set, everyone calls me ‘grandma.’ They said I looked extra tired today, but I’m usually just observing things with a warm smile—that’s my vibe.”
Reflecting on her early career, Kim So-hyun recalled her experiences interacting with fans through social media. “In the early days of Instagram and Twitter, I used to get a lot of DMs asking for advice,” she said. “I actually gave more career advice than dating tips,” she added, smiling.
Kim So-hyun is appearing in JTBC’s upcoming drama Good Boy, a youth comic-action series centered on former national athletes turned police officers. The story follows them as they exchange medals for badges and face a society rife with injustice.
Through her thoughtful responses and genuine demeanor, Kim So-hyun continues to charm fans, offering both laughter and introspection as she prepares for her next chapter on screen.
