Kim So-yeon Confesses to Early Aging Looks… “Received Child Actor Award in Middle School and Got Complaints”

Recently, a post titled “Actress Who Received Complaints Due to Her Early Aging Looks and Child Actor Award Controversy” surfaced online.
The post shared an episode from 2010’s SBS variety show “Strong Heart” where Kim So-yeon talked about the difficulties she faced due to her mature appearance. On the show, Kim So-yeon introduced herself as the “national old-looking actress” and shared, “I debuted at 14, received a child actor award that same year, but was met with complaints.”

She continued, “After receiving the award, I was criticized for ‘an adult receiving a child actor award,’ and because of my mature appearance, I played the role of a doctor in ‘Sungpung Clinic’ during my senior year of high school,” recalling the past event.
Kim So-yeon later mentioned this experience again on the 2021 SBS variety show “Master in the House,” where her appearance with bold makeup and a tall stature was also aired. Kim So-yeon won a child actor award in 1995 for her role in the KBS drama “Daughters of a Rich Family” when she was 15 years old. However, her mature looks and height led many to mistakenly believe she was an adult at the time.
Kim So-yeon, now 45 years old, debuted in 1994 with the SBS youth drama “Dinosaur Teacher.” Since then, she has appeared in numerous hit dramas such as “Daughters of a Rich Family,” “Lovestruck in the City,” “Yesterday,” “Sungpung Clinic,” “The Three Musketeers,” “Sunshine,” “IRIS,” “Beating Again,” “Penthouse,” “Tale of the Nine-Tailed,” and “A Virtuous Business,” gaining consistent love from viewers.

In 2021, she won the SBS Drama Awards Grand Prize and the Baeksang Arts Awards Best Actress in TV for her role in “Penthouse.”

Kim So-yeon married actor Lee Sang-woo, whom she met on the drama “Beating Again,” in 2017. The couple has no children.
