According to police on June 30, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station questioned Kim Soo-hyun legal representative, Attorney Bang Sung-hoon from LKB & Partners, on June 18 at 2 p.m. in connection with the case.
The police are also investigating a complaint filed by Kim Soo-hyun’s side on June 23, accusing Kim Sae-ron‘s bereaved family and Kim Yong-ho, head of the Garosero Research Institute, of false accusation. On May 9, Kim Soo-hyun’s side had previously filed a lawsuit against Kim Yong-ho for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act and violation of the Stalking Punishment Act.
Regarding the case in which Kim Soo-hyun filed a complaint against Kim Se-ui, head of the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute, for allegedly releasing a fabricated audio recording of the late Kim Sae-ron, the police stated, “We have completed questioning the legal representative who filed the complaint.”
Kim Soo-hyun’s legal team from the law firm LKB & Partners completed their statement at the Gangnam Police Station on June 18. Accordingly, the police are currently coordinating a schedule for the Garo Sero team to appear for questioning.
The police also commented that investigations are ongoing into the separate charges of false accusations filed by Kim Soo-hyun’s side against both the Garo Sero team and the late Kim Sae-ron’s family.
Earlier, on May 7, Garosero Research Institute released an audio file claimed to be a conversation between Kim Sae-ron and an informant, in which Kim Sae-ron allegedly stated she had been in a relationship with Kim Soo-hyun since her middle school days. The bereaved family claimed the recording was made on January 10, 2025.
Following a press conference, Kim Soo-hyun’s side issued an official statement, saying, “The released audio file is completely fabricated and believed to have been created using artificial intelligence (AI) or similar technology.” They added that they had filed additional lawsuits and complaints against Kim Yong-ho and Kim Sae-ron’s bereaved family for false accusation.
Kim Soo-hyun faces allegations of having been in a relationship with Kim Sae-ron for approximately six years, starting when she was a minor. Kim Sae-ron was found deceased at her home in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on February 16, 2025. Subsequently, her bereaved family, through Garosero Research Institute, released photos and text messages presumed to be exchanged between the two.
