Kim Soo-hyun Fans File Legal Complaints Against Malicious Commenters Over Defamation Allegations

As actor Kim Soo-hyun continues to battle allegations surrounding an alleged relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron, his fans have taken matters into their own hands, launching a formal legal complaint against malicious commenters and rumor spreaders online.
Kim Soo-hyun Fans File Legal Complaints Against Malicious Commenters
On April 22, Kim Soo-hyun’s fan alliance, including members from Daum Cafe ‘Eucaris’ and DC Inside’s Kim Soo-hyun Gallery, announced that they are in the process of filing criminal complaints against individuals spreading defamatory and false rumors about the actor on online communities and social media platforms.

Attorney Yang Tae-young from Siwoo Law Firm, who is representing the fan group, stated that the complaint is expected to be submitted to the Seongbuk Police Station within the week. According to the legal team, the accusations against these netizens fall under defamation via the Information and Communications Network Act, which allows third-party complaints unlike insult charges, which require a direct victim’s filing.
In a rare show of global solidarity, the initiative is being supported not only by Korean fans but also by Kim Soo-hyun’s international fanbase.
In an official statement, the fan alliance said:
“This is a voluntary initiative to protect the rights of the actor and preserve a healthy fan culture,” the union stated. “We will not tolerate personal attacks or malicious comments disguised as free speech. There will be no leniency.”
The alliance revealed that they had collected extensive evidence, including malicious comments, manipulated images, and posts containing false claims that have circulated for months.

Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, has filed a criminal complaint and a 12 billion KRW (approx. 8.5 million USD) lawsuit against Kim Sae-ron’s family and the YouTube channel Garo Sero for spreading damaging rumors. The controversy began after claims that Kim dated Sae-ron while she was a minor. Kim’s agency refuted this, stating the relationship occurred only after she became an adult, and Kim publicly denied any underage involvement.
As legal proceedings unfold, this case continues to stir public debate on celebrity privacy, accountability, and the role of fandom in protecting their idols.
