Kim Soo Hyun’s Agency Denies Forcing Sulli Into Nude Scenes: “She Was Informed in Advance”

As controversy surrounding actor Kim Soo-hyun and the 2017 film “Real” continues to spread, his agency Gold Medalist and the film’s director Lee Sarang (Lee Robe) have released a statement firmly denying allegations that the late Sulli (Choi Jin-ri) was coerced into filming nude scenes.

On April 2, Gold Medalist issued an official response addressing claims recently raised by Sulli’s older brother, who alleged that the actress was pressured into performing explicit scenes and that a body double was present on set but unused.
Nude Scene in Script From the Start
The agency emphasized that Sulli was aware of the requirements of the role from the very beginning, stating, “The character Song Yoo-hwa, played by the late Choi Jin-ri, included bed scenes from the script’s initial draft. When casting, we clearly stated that a ‘performer comfortable with nude scenes’ was required.”

They added that it was precisely to avoid burdening the actor later that such information was transparently shared at the casting stage, saying, “It would be more inappropriate to discuss nudity after casting, as that could lead to undue pressure.”
Contractual Clarity and Staff Confirmation
Gold Medalist also backed up their claim by revealing that both the script and additional documents outlining the level of exposure were provided to Sulli and her then-agency. They even included specific contract clauses regarding nudity, and disclosed storyboard images from the production.

To further validate their position, the agency attached signed statements from “Real”‘s assistant director Kim Joong-ok and script supervisor Lee Joon-hyun, asserting that:
- The full script and storyboard were distributed to all involved parties.
- A “standing double” (a person used during camera rehearsals, not during acting) was present—not a body double for nude scenes.
- All scenes, including those with nudity, were executed with full understanding and agreement from the cast and crew.
Kim Soo-hyun Not Involved in Production Decisions
Last but not least, the agency stressed that actor Kim Soo-hyun, who starred in “Real”, had no involvement in production decisions, stating “As an actor, Kim Soo-hyun had no part in the scripting, storyboarding, or directing of the film. These responsibilities fall under the production team.”
No Contact With Sulli’s Mother + Plea for Respect
Addressing another claim, the agency denied contacting Sulli’s mother regarding these issues, saying,* “We have never contacted the late Choi Jin-ri’s mother. We don’t even know her contact details.”*
They acknowledged the emotional weight of what may have been heard during Sulli’s funeral in 2019, but questioned the decision to bring up these claims now six years later especially on social media.

The statement concluded with a call to end baseless speculation, stating,* “Unfounded rumors only hurt those who poured their passion into this project. We sincerely ask that you stop spreading unverified claims, especially during this sensitive time for Kim Soo-hyun.”*
The controversy initially erupted after Sulli’s brother made various claims on social media, questioning the nature of the late actress’ nude scenes and reigniting debate over “Real”‘s filming conditions. However, with legal documents and testimonials now released by the production team, the discussion may soon take a new turn.
