With new developments in the controversy still unfolding, the shows Kim Soo-hyun is currently involved in, as well as his future projects, are expected to face significant repercussions.

MBC’s “Good Day”

MBC’s “Good Day” continues to record disappointing ratings, and now faces further challenges following claims that actor Kim Soo-hyun and the late Kim Sae-ron were in a past romantic relationship.

In “Good Day”‘s second episode, G-Dragon bonded with fellow ’88-liners,’ with Kim Soo-hyun standing out for his candid reflections on aging and impressive vocals. Despite its high-profile cast and prime Sunday slot, the show’s ratings have struggled, starting at 4.3% before dropping to the 3% range by the fourth episode.

New Drama Project “Knock Off”

Attention has now turned to “Knock Off,” Kim Soo-hyun’s upcoming Disney+ drama, which is set to premiere in 2025. The series, which marks his return following the success of “Queen of Tears”, has been highly anticipated. However, recent allegations surrounding Kim Soo-hyun’s past relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron have put his future projects, including “Knock Off,” under scrutiny.

On November 21, 2024, the Disney Content Showcase APAC 2024 was held at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore. As part of the event, a press conference for Disney+’s new original series “Knock Off” took place with the attendance of director Park Hyun-seok, alongside leading actors Kim Soo-hyun and Jo Bo-ah.

Introducing his character, Kim Soo-hyun remarked, “There isn’t much romance in this series – about 15% of the story, I’d say.” He further explained, “In my previous work ‘Queen of Tears’, my character Baek Hyun-woo was very sweet and warm. However, the character I play in ‘Knock Off’, Kim Sung-joon, is a cold, calculating, and highly realistic person who acts solely for survival.”

“Knock Off” tells the story of a man whose life is completely upended by the IMF crisis, transforming from an ordinary office worker into the king of the counterfeit goods market. Set for release in 2025, the series has garnered attention with the return of Kim Soo-hyun, the star of the “Queen of Tears” phenomenon, as he takes on the role of Kim Seong-jun, the king of the counterfeit goods world.

Kim Seong-jun, portrayed by Kim Soo-hyun, is a character who, after losing his job due to the IMF crisis, enters the world of counterfeit goods and rises to become the king of the counterfeit goods market. Actress Jo Bo-ah, who has demonstrated her versatility in works such as “Tale of the Nine Tailed” and “Military Prosecutor Doberman”, will be partnering with Kim Soo-hyun for the first time. Jo Bo-ah will play Song Hye-jung, Kim Seong-jun’s ex-lover and a special judicial police officer dedicated to cracking down on counterfeit goods.

However, on March 10, 2025, allegations surfaced that Kim Soo-hyun was in a six-year relationship with Kim Sae-ron, starting when she was a minor. The claims have sparked controversy, drawing attention to his current and upcoming projects.

Given the seriousness of the allegations, all eyes are now on whether “Knock Off” will continue as scheduled. In a January interview with the Italian fashion magazine “Esquire,” Kim Soo-hyun revealed that nearly half of the drama had already been filmed. With two months having passed since then, production is likely even further along. Co-star Jo Bo-ah has also joined Kim Soo-hyun in early promotions for the series.

Similar to how actor Park Sung-hoon stepped down from “The Tyrant’s Chef” following his scandal, speculation is growing over whether Kim Soo-hyun will remain in the cast. With the drama’s high production value and Disney+ backing, its future now hangs in the balance as audiences await further developments.

Amid allegations that actor Kim Soo Hyun was in a romantic relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron, reports have emerged of Kim Soo Hyun currently filming “Knock-Off”.

On March 10, a video was uploaded online showing Kim Soo Hyun on the set of Disney+’s drama “Knock-Off”. The video captured Kim Soo Hyun filming in front of a bus stop, dressed in an all-black outfit. The uploader wrote, “I saw Kim Soo Hyun in front of my house. Oh my, it’s Kim Soo Hyun!
