Kim Soo-hyun’s Fandom Divided Over Controversy, Fans Clash Over Broadcast Rights
On March 14, Kim Soo-hyun’s fans took to DC Inside Gallery to release a statement titled “Please Respect Kim Soo-hyun’s Broadcast Activities”.
In the post, the fans expressed concerns about the calls for the actor to halt his public activities amid the ongoing controversy. They wrote, “Some factions of the public are insisting that Kim Soo-hyun must suspend all broadcast activities. However, we strongly oppose the notion that he should be excluded from the industry based solely on unverified allegations without fair scrutiny.”
The statement also referenced Kim Soo-hyun’s agency Gold Medalist, which had previously stated, “The claims that he dated an actress while she was a minor are untrue. We question why he must endure such scrutiny over personal matters that were disclosed without consent.” The fans argued, “Despite this, some are continuing to use unverified accusations as a basis to demand his removal from broadcasts. Why is this being unfairly imposed on Kim Soo-hyun alone?”
Furthermore, they compared his situation to other public figures, including politicians and entertainers, who have faced legal disputes but were not forced into immediate withdrawals. Specifically, they recalled the Oh Yoanna bullying case, pointing out, “There are numerous individuals who continue their careers despite being named perpetrators of workplace harassment. Even politicians involved in legal controversies are allowed to serve their full terms until final court rulings are made. Yet, Kim Soo-hyun is being pressured to step down immediately this is clearly unfair.”
The statement concluded with a plea for fairness, “As an actor, Kim Soo-hyun has the right to actively defend himself. Rather than baseless accusations, we hope for a standard of fair judgment. Those who support him wish to see him clarify the truth through proper means and continue his career.”
However, backlash immediately followed within DC Inside Gallery, with multiple posts rejecting the fan union’s statement, calling it “misleading propaganda”. Many fans accused the post of being orchestrated by impostors pretending to be supporters of Kim Soo-hyun. The fandom remains deeply divided over the controversy surrounding Kim Sae-ron.
Meanwhile, the situation continues to escalate as more alleged evidence surfaces, including text messages from Kim Sae-ron pleading for help, a photo of Kim Soo-hyun kissing her on the cheek, and a letter he allegedly sent to her while he was in the military and she was still a minor. If these claims are proven true, Kim Soo-hyun could face accusations of “grooming behavior”, fueling intense criticism.
On March 14, Gold Medalist released an official statement refuting the claims, “Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron were in a relationship from the summer of 2019 to the fall of 2020, after she had become an adult. The claims that Kim Soo-hyun dated her while she was a minor are false. The photo released on Kim Sae-ron’s Instagram Story on March 24, 2024 and those revealed by Garo Sero Institute on March 11, 2025 were taken on the same day in the winter of 2020, during their relationship. The outfit Kim Sae-ron wore in the photos was from a brand collection released in June 2019. Thus, Garo Sero’s claim that the images were taken in 2016, when Kim Sae-ron was still a minor, is entirely baseless.”
