Kim Soo-hyun’s “Good Day” Filming Is A Reckless Move? Viewer Backlash Erupts
According to industry insiders on March 13, Kim Soo-hyun participated in the recording of “Good Day” as scheduled. Given the growing scandal, there was speculation that he might skip filming, but the shoot went ahead. The production team stated, “The recording was carried out with a minimized schedule.”
However, news of Kim Soo-hyun’s continued participation has triggered intense backlash from viewers. On the official “Good Day” viewer board, demands for his removal have surged, with thousands of critical comments flooding in within a day. Some viewers reacted strongly, “We don’t want to see Kim Soo-hyun on TV“, “I won’t watch any MBC variety shows, news or dramas” and “Do they think viewers are fools?” Calls for the program’s cancellation have also surfaced. Additionally, criticisms have been directed at PD Kim Tae-ho, who is in charge of the show, with comments such as “Does Kim Tae-ho have no ethical standards as a public broadcaster’s PD?“, “Drop him from the show immediately” and “I will boycott all of Kim Tae-ho’s future productions.“
Kim Soo-hyun is facing allegations that he dated Kim Sae-ron for six years starting in 2016 when she was 15 years old. These claims first emerged on March 10 when the YouTube channel “Garosero Research Institute” released an interview with Kim Sae-ron’s bereaved family. Since then, additional evidence—including photos of the two together and text messages where Kim Sae-ron appeared to seek help—has surfaced, further fueling the controversy.
On March 14, Gold Medalist, Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, officially released a statement to clarify the controversy and protect the actor.
Meanwhile, “Good Day” is a music project variety show where G-Dragon collaborates with various figures to create the “Song of the Year”. Kim Soo-hyun is appearing on the show as part of the “88-line” alongside G-Dragon, Hwang Kwang-hee and others, who were all born in 1988. With the ongoing controversy, all eyes are now on Kim Soo-hyun’s future in broadcasting.
