Koo Jun-yup Visits Late Wife Barbie Hsu’s Grave Daily, Her Mother Expresses Deep Concern

South Korean singer Koo Jun-yup has reportedly been visiting his late wife Barbie Hsu’s grave every day since her passing, according to a new update.
On April 16, Taiwanese media outlet ETtoday published an emotional interview with singer and actress Pai Bing-bing, during which she shared recent updates on the grieving family of the late Barbie Hsu.

With Taiwan’s Mother’s Day approaching, Pai Bing-bing reflected on her own painful experience of losing her daughter and revealed a recent phone conversation she had with Barbie Hsu’s mother. “She asked me how I got through the pain,” Pai said. “I told her it took me 20 years of crying. I also told her to come find me whenever she feels overwhelmed.”
Pai went on to ask Hsu’s mother how Koo Jun-yup, Barbie’s husband, was coping. “She told me Koo Jun-yup goes to Jinbaoshan every day, and it breaks her heart,” Pai said. “She also said both Koo and Barbie’s younger sister, Dee Hsu, are still deeply trapped in grief. But honestly, I worry about her [Barbie’s mother] the most.”

Pai added that while younger people may gradually heal through work or activity, elderly individuals tend to dwell on their sorrow due to the lack of daily distractions. “I slowly let go of my grief over 20 years thanks to my friends,” she said, expressing her wish to support Hsu’s mother through this difficult time.
Barbie Hsu tragically passed away on February 2 at a hospital in Tokyo, Japan. She had traveled there with her family for a vacation but was rushed to the emergency room on the third day of the trip. She died of pneumonia caused by influenza.

On March 15, Koo Jun-yup held a funeral for Barbie at Jinbaoshan in Taiwan. Under a rainy sky, he was seen in tears as he personally carried her ashes. Since the service, Koo has withdrawn from all public activities and reportedly lost over 12 kilograms, underscoring the severity of his emotional state. Koo is currently working with a friend to create a memorial statue for Barbie Hsu. He is expected to return to Seoul and reunite with his family only after the statue is completed.
