Koo Jun-yup Keeps Late Barbie Hsu’s Ashes at Home for a Month, Neighbors Complain

According to Chinese media outlets, including the China Times, on February 27, Barbie Hsu’s ashes remained stored at their residence. Some neighbors have expressed dissatisfaction with this situation.
Earlier, Barbie Hsu’s younger sister, TV personality Dee Hsu, stated that Barbie Hsu had wished for an eco-friendly tree burial. The family was preparing for it. However, the family’s delay in deciding on a final resting place has postponed the tree burial.

Koo Jun-yup explained that he is considering an alternative burial site instead of a tree burial. He wants “an independent space where he can visit Barbie Hsu anytime.” As a result, the family is looking for a place to securely store the ashes or erect a statue in her memory.
There were reports that Longyan, a renowned funeral company in Taiwan, planned to donate 10 million TWD (approximately 400 million KRW) to support the burial. However, the company denied the claims. Taiwanese media outlet ET Today reported that the family ultimately ruled out the burial site offered by Longyan. As a result, Barbie Hsu’s family and Koo Jun-yup are still searching for a suitable location.

With the ashes remaining at home for a month, some neighbors have reportedly voiced discomfort. Meanwhile, Koo Jun-yup has been struggling with grief, reportedly losing around 6kg as he has been unable to eat properly since his wife’s passing. He has indefinitely suspended all public activities, including his scheduled DJ performances, press conferences, and fan meetings.
Koo Jun-yup and Barbie Hsu originally dated in the late 1990s before breaking up, only to reunite and marry in 2022 after more than 20 years apart. However, Barbie Hsu tragically passed away on February 2 while on a family trip to Japan due to pneumonia. After her funeral and cremation in Japan, her ashes were transported to Taiwan on February 5. However, a final resting place has yet to be determined.
