According to the legal community, on the 30th of last month, HYBE initiated a total of 8 lawsuits against 7 YouTube channels classified as cyber wreckers at the Seoul Western District Court. The targeted channels include “En**”, “Wang***”, “Lee**”, “Pi***” and “Da**” among a total of 7 channels.
Following their filing of a “discovery” request with the U.S. Federal Court to disclose the identities of YouTubers spreading false information about NewJeans and LE SSERAFIM, HYBE has also added defamation lawsuits in collaboration with Belift Lab, I’LL-IT, and Source Music.
Previously, law firm A, which represented HYBE in the lawsuit, faced controversy over alleged “copy-and-paste” filings, leading to a new major law firm taking over the case. The targeted channels, such as “En**”, “Wang***” and others, are known to have focused on issues like plagiarism claims surrounding I’LL-IT.

I’LL-IT’s side stated, “The YouTube channel ‘New***’ repeatedly uploaded videos containing false claims that I’LL-IT plagiarized songs or works from other artists”. They added, “The defendant recently posted seven videos containing false claims that damaged the honor and reputation of the plaintiffs (I’LL-IT and Belift Lab)”. They also emphasized, “I’LL-IT has never plagiarized any songs from other artists”.
LE SSERAFIM and Source Music also claimed that these cyber reckers spread falsehoods. LE SSERAFIM’s side stated, “‘Pi***’ posted videos alleging that the girl group GFriend disbanded due to the Danworld doctrine, and that LE SSERAFIM debuted under the same doctrine in the role of ‘angels’, along with false claims regarding the group’s alleged association with Japanophilic controversies.” They clarified, “LE SSERAFIM and Source Music have no connection whatsoever to Danworld or Japanophilic tendencies, nor have they expressed anything related to such ideologies.”

In addition to these claims, there were further insults aimed at LE SSERAFIM and Source Music, accusing certain members of being “arrogant idols” after becoming celebrities, criticizing the “stark contrast in skill level of Japanese members,” calling one performance “the worst live performance ever,” and describing the Coachella appearance as a “HYBE disaster.”
Meanwhile, the individuals behind the channels “Jung*****” and “Gil*****,” which had defamed NewJeans in HYBE’s previous lawsuits, have yet to be identified. HYBE is expected to ramp up efforts to uncover their identities alongside this new legal action.
