On the June 14 episode of JTBC’s “Knowing Bros”, idol singer Lee Chaeyeon candidly shared the story behind her dramatic choice to undergo a large-scale hair transplant.

During the “Summer Queen” episode featuring Kim Wan-sun, Narsha (Brown Eyed Girls), Lee Chaeyeon and Chanelle Moon (Fifty Fifty), Chaeyeon opened up about an embarrassing moment at her first performance at the “Waterbomb” festival. She explained that in her effort to look flawless, she used black powder to fill in bald spots—but the moment she stepped onto the stage and was drenched, “it all washed away”. The audience gasped as she recounted how her scalp had been revealed on camera, triggering rumors of hair loss.

“I thought ‘I have to keep performing at ‘Waterbomb’, this is a disaster’, so I decided to get my hair transplanted immediately,” she confessed. Impressively, Chaeyeon confirmed that she “had exactly 3,571 grafts transplanted”. Narsha, visibly shocked, remarked, “Over 3,000 grafts is a lot.”

The candid reveal led to playful banter on the show. MC Seo Jang-hoon joked, “You didn’t have it done by Han Sangbo, right?”—to which Chaeyeon jumped and confirmed, “Right!”

Chaeyeon’s honesty and determination won support from fans and viewers alike, showcasing both her professionalism and personal confidence in confronting challenges—on stage and off.
