“Lee Dong-gun, 5 public relationships” From ex-wife Jo Yoon-hee to Jiyeon and Cha Ye-ryun, past lovers re-examined
On the November 17th broadcast of SBS’s variety show “My Little Old Boy“, the final story of “Taiwan mom avengers tour” aired.
During the show, the participants had a quiz segment titled “Mother and Son’s Past”. As the questions were revealed, Heo Kyung-hwan remarked “This seems a bit too strong”, while Kim Jong-kook expressed concerns, “Is this okay?”
Eventually, Heo Kyung-hwan hesitated before asking, “How many public relationships has Lee Dong-gun had?” Kim Hee-chul was equally startled, saying, “That’s such an intense question.” MC Seo Jang-hoon then asked Lee Dong-gun’s father, “Do you know how many public relationships Dong-gun has had?” Lee Dong-gun’s father replied, “About five.”
Lee Dong-gun’s mother guessed “Three?” but the correct answer was indeed five. Heo Kyung-hwan joked, “Who keeps exposing Dong-gun’s relationships?” Lee Dong-gun’s father explained, “Whenever my son starts dating, he always goes public with it. I once advised him, ‘You’re a celebrity; why not keep it private like others do?’ But he said the reason he chooses to go public is to respect his partner.”
He continued, “But because of that, he got nicknamed King Uija (a historical king known for his many women). My son protested, saying, ‘I was just being honest, so why am I called King Uija?’”
Lee Dong-gun’s statement about his five public relationships brought past partners back into the spotlight. He was previously publicly involved with Kim Min-jung, Han Ji-hye, Cha Ye-ryun, T-ARA’s Jiyeon and Jo Yoon-hee. Notably, just 26 days after announcing his breakup with Jiyeon, Lee Dong-gun revealed his relationship with Jo Yoon-hee, followed by news of her pregnancy and their marriage two months later. However, the couple divorced in 2020 after three years of marriage.
