On June 1st, Lee Hyo-ri uploaded a few photos on her SNS account with the caption, “Huddled together”.

The photos are paintings drawn by Lee Hyo-ri herself. In the picture showing six flowers in a small pot, the flowers aroused keen attention as they have human faces. In another painting, six people are seen lying next to each other in a red room with a small window.

Seeing Lee Hyo-ri’s paintings, fans commented, “I feel so emotional, I can feel the weight of a family of six living in one single room in my childhood. But we were happy. Our house didn’t even have a window and I slept vertically under the legs of the other five family members”.

In response, Lee Hyo-ri humbly said, “Sometimes, such expressions seem to be freer than those of experts. Maybe it’s because we didn’t learn it”.

Earlier, Lee Hyo-ri went on a trip to Gyeongju with her mom for the first time in JTBC’s “Travel With Mom” broadcast on May 26th and shed tears upon revealing that she had a hard time due to her parents’ frequent fights.

The female singer said, “Even now, I’m nervous thinking about what might happen if Mom and Dad are here together. They fought a lot. I hate fighting so much so maybe that’s why I chose a gentle husband”, explaining the reason she married Lee Sang-soon.

She continued, “When I saw Mom have a hard time in the past, I felt very helpless because I was too young. The time when my beloved Mom was struggling and I couldn’t do anything to help her remains in my heart as a painful scar. I thought I should have done better, but paradoxically, it made me avoid my mom more. I don’t know if it was because I didn’t like the pain or because I was afraid to face my helpless self. However, this time, I wanted to bravely face those feelings to feel the love between me and Mom. I wanted to overcome and heal myself from that pain”.

Lee Hyo-ri’s mother also shared, “In the past, our family had six members and we lived in a very small room in Dad’s barbershop. We couldn’t afford to buy Hyo-ri new clothes. She could only wear what her sisters wore and grew up without even getting a single bottle of yogurt”, explaining their family’s financial difficulties in the past and expressing her gratitude for Lee Hyo-ri for being the family’s breadwinner.
