Amid resurging controversy over her 2022 remarks about assisted conception, singer Lee Hyori has quietly spoken through art. On June 20, she shared a photo from an art gallery featuring a painting of a woman holding a baby, captioning it simply, “So beautiful.”
The image comes just as online debate has reignited around Hyori’s past comments, in which she expressed a desire to get pregnant naturally rather than pursue in vitro fertilization (IVF). Appearing on “That Man Who I Remember” in 2022, the singer had said, “I don’t want to rely on medical intervention. If I get pregnant naturally, I’ll raise the child gratefully. I have faith because there is someone around me who had their first child at 58.”

While some criticized the statement as insensitive toward those undergoing IVF, others defended it as a personal belief rather than a judgment. Hyori later emphasized that she values motherhood but also embraces the idea of living like a “mother to all” even without biological children.
She also mentioned her mindset, saying, “I want to feel the love and devotion that mothers have, so I want to have a child, but I think that you don’t have to have a baby to experience true love”.
