Is IU Too Busy for Love? Lee Jong-suk’s Year Packed With ‘Seocho-dong’ and ‘The Remarried Empress’

In a recent interview, Lee Jong-suk opened up about returning to the screen with Seocho-dong, his first drama since Big Mouth.
“It’s not your typical legal drama,” he said. “There aren’t many intense courtroom scenes. Instead, the story dives deep into human relationships.”

He also shared excitement about rocking glasses for the first time on screen. “Once you pick glasses for a role, you’re stuck with them the whole series. I was careful in choosing the right pair, and luckily, I ended up using them in a photoshoot too.”
Joining him in Seocho-dong are actors Moon Ga-young, Kang Yoo-seok, Ryu Hye-young, and Lim Sung-jae, forming a core five-member cast. Jong-suk said the chemistry among them was so natural, “Even just eating together on set felt entertaining.”

But that’s not all he’s also gearing up for the high-stakes fantasy drama The Remarried Empress. “It’s based on a massively popular webtoon, so everyone’s under pressure,” he admitted. “But I’m ready to follow the director’s lead and dive in.”
Yet, amid his busy schedule, fans are curious: where does this leave IU?
The songstress recently shared in an interview for When Life Gives You Tangerines that she hasn’t even had time to watch Jong-suk’s work. “I still need to finish promoting ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines,’ and he’s super busy,” she laughed.

The couple, who have been dating publicly since late 2022, are entering their third year together—but with both stars caught in an overwhelming wave of projects, netizens are beginning to wonder: Is love still in the air or just on the backburner?
While there’s no sign of trouble, fans are keeping a close eye on any public interactions or lack thereof. Could the demanding careers of two top-tier celebrities pose a threat to their relationship?

As 2025 continues, both Lee Jong-suk and IU are set to blaze their own trails. Whether that journey will remain intertwined is something only time will tell.
