Lee Se-young to Play Villain, Lee Jong-suk Marries Shin Min-ah in “The Remarried Empress”?

On March 7, an entertainment insider told JTBC Entertainment News, “Lee Se-young will be starring in ‘The Remarried Empress’, which is being adapted into a drama.” It is alsp reported that Lee Se-young will assume the role of Rashta, a runaway slave that Emperor Sovieshu accidentally finds while hunting, but soon becomes his mistress. Rashta can be considered a villain and an essential character in the process of establishing the main story of the work

Meanwhile, previously on December 10, a representative from Lee Jong-suk’s agency confirmed to media outlet OSEN, “‘The Remarried Empress’ is one of the projects Lee Jong-suk has been offered. However, his participation has not yet been decided.”  

The drama is based on a hit web novel of the same name, which tells the story of Navier, the Empress of the Eastern Empire, who divorces her husband, Emperor Sovieshu, after he seeks to make his mistress Rashta the new Empress. Navier then remarried King Heinrey of the Western Kingdom, setting the stage for a compelling tale of love, betrayal, and politics.  

The original novel is considered a cornerstone of the romance-fantasy genre in South Korea and has garnered immense popularity. It has since been adapted into an ongoing webtoon, further solidifying its cultural impact. 

Actress Shin Min-ah has reportedly been cast as Navier, the titular Empress, which has heightened anticipation for the drama’s cast and production.

Lee Jong-suk has been offered the role of King Heinrey, the male protagonist and Navier’s second husband. The show will be directed by Jo Soo-won, who has previously collaborated with Lee Jong-suk on hit dramas such as “I Can Hear Your Voice” and “Pinocchio”.  

Meanwhile, Lee Jong-suk is also preparing for his upcoming tvN weekend drama “Seochodong” (tentative title). Fans are eager to see whether he will take on this romance-fantasy project, marking another significant milestone in his career.
