According to OSEN’s report on November 20, Lee Jung-jae and Lim Ji-yeon have recently decided to join the upcoming drama “Impudent Love” (tentative title) after receiving the script proposal.
“Impudent Love” follows a former actor whose career was interrupted and a political reporter turned entertainment journalist, exploring their tense, bombshell-filled relationship. Written by Jeong Yeong-rang, the writer behind the hit “Doctor Cha,” the drama has generated high expectations.

Lee Jung-jae plays Im Hyun-jun, a detective-turned-actor seeking to break free from his iconic role as Kang Pil-gu in “Good Detective Kang Pil-gu” and reinvent himself in romantic comedies or melodramas. His return to domestic drama after a five-year hiatus, following his last appearance in 2019’s “The Aide 2,” is highly anticipated. In the meantime, Lee has been active in global projects, including his directorial debut “HUНT” (2022), “Revolver” (2024), and the upcoming Disney+ series “The Acolyte” (2024).

Lim Ji-yeon plays Wi Jeong-shin, a reporter who transitions from political scandals to entertainment news after being demoted. Determined to uncover the truth behind the connection between politics and entertainment, she becomes entangled in a chaotic love triangle with Im Hyun-jun and Kang Pil-gu. Lim gained international fame for her role as Park Yeon-jin in “The Glory” (2022), sparking the “Yeon-jin Syndrome.” She has since starred in “Lies Hidden in My Garden” (2023) and “The Killing Vote” (2023), with an upcoming appearance in “Revolver” (2024).
In “Impudent Love,” Lee Jung-jae and Lim Ji-yeon will collaborate for the first time, and their chemistry is highly anticipated. With Lee Jung-jae’s long-awaited return to Korean television after 5 years and Lim Ji-yeon’s continued rise in popularity, expectations for their on-screen partnership are high.
Lee Jung-jae will be seen globally on December 26 when “Squid Game” Season 2 is released, while Lim Ji-yeon will meet viewers with the premiere of the new JTBC drama “The Tale of Lady Ok” on November 30.
“Impudent Love” is directed by Kim Garam, known for “Good Partner”, and produced by NEW’s Studio & New, with the channel’s scheduling still under discussion.
