Veteran Actor Lee Kwang Ki Sheds Tears of Joy at Daughter’s Wedding to Famous Korean Football Star
On the evening of June 15 at 6 PM, actor Lee Kwang Ki’s daughter Lee Yeon Ji tied the knot with national football team player Jung Woo Young in a scenic outdoor wedding at B Garden, located on the outskirts of Gangnam, Seoul. Surrounded by forest, the venue provided a serene and cozy atmosphere, like a wedding in the woods.
Despite initial worries about rain forecast for the evening, the skies held back until the ceremony was over, much to the relief of the hosts. The spacious parking and quiet surroundings ensured a comfortable experience for the guests.
The ceremony was private, attended by around 500 guests including family, friends, and many figures from the entertainment and sports industries. Notable attendees included Yoo Jae Suk, Yoo Dong Geun, Lim Ha Ryong, Jo Se Ho, Hong Seok Cheon, and more. Singers Crush and So Hyang performed heartwarming congratulatory songs, while Yoo Jae Suk hosted the event.
In a heartfelt move, the bride and groom made their marriage vows themselves without a separate officiant, adding a touch of sincerity to the occasion. Speaking after the ceremony, Lee Kwang Ki said, “Welcoming such a reliable son-in-law into the family is incredibly moving. As you know, young couples today make their own choices, so all I can do is support them quietly.”
He also reflected on his emotional moment, explaining, “Since my debut, I’ve experienced many ups and downs, but watching my children grow up, especially with all the challenges along the way, hit me all at once. That’s when the tears came.”
The daughter, Lee Yeon Ji, who studied fine arts after attending an arts high school, now works as an art director, co-running an art gallery with her father. She first came to public attention as a child through the JTBC variety show “Children, The Life’s Greatest Blessing” and later showed a more mature image on TV Chosun’s “The Perfect Life.”
Born in 1999, Jung Woo Young is a football star known for his speed, dribbling, and strategic plays. He began his career with Bayern Munich’s youth team and went on to play for Freiburg and Stuttgart. He currently plays for Union Berlin in Germany’s Bundesliga.
