Lee Min-ho’s Intense Transformation in “Omniscient Reader: The Prophet” Stuns Fans Ahead of July Release

On June 11, distributor Lotte Entertainment revealed behind-the-scenes photos from Omniscient Reader: The Prophet‘s film set, spotlighting Lee Min-ho‘s commanding presence and sharp gaze. The film is adapted from the hit web novel where the fictional world of a long-running serialization becomes real the moment it ends. The story follows Kim Dok-ja (played by Ahn Hyo-seop), the novel’s sole reader, as he teams up with Yoo Joong-hyuk, the protagonist of the fictional story, to survive a crumbling world.

Lee Min-ho plays Yoo Joong-hyuk, a grim yet powerful figure who repeatedly regresses to the beginning each time he dies—an ability that fuels his battle-hardened nature. Known for dramas like Boys Over Flowers, Pachinko, The King: Eternal Monarch, and The Heirs, Lee brings both physical prowess and emotional gravity to his latest role.
“I spent a lot of time contemplating the loneliness of a man who survives alone in an immortal life,” Lee shared. “Given the character’s constant battles, I put considerable effort into preparing for the action scenes.”
He further added, “I had to present this entire universe through Yoo Joong-hyuk. If he didn’t feel real, viewers wouldn’t believe in the journey of the other characters. That’s why I approached him with great care.”

Exploring the shifting dynamics between Yoo and Kim Dok-ja, the film teases a riveting blend of explosive action and psychological tension, as the two characters challenge each other’s beliefs and rewrite the fate of their world.
Omniscient Reader: The Prophet is scheduled to premiere in theaters nationwide this July, promising an epic tale of survival, sacrifice, and unlikely alliances.
