Lee Min-ho Reveals His Height and Visuals Earned Him Three Casting Offers from SM
On December 25th, tvN’s variety show “You Quiz on the Block” released the new episode featuring Lee Min-ho as a guest.
Yoo Jae-suk asked, “Did you dream of becoming an actor when you were a kid?”. Lee Min-ho replied, “My first dream was to become a football player. I only played football until I entered the first grade of middle school. I was injured and had to give up on my football player dream”.
Yoo Jae-suk exclaimed, “I think if you had continued to play football, you would have become a national team player and be famous all over the world.” Jo Se-ho commented, “Famous as a handsome football player”. Lee Min-ho added, “I did play well back then. I even joined the football team representing Seoul”.
Yoo Jae-suk continued, “I heard you were already famous for your handsome visual in Daebong-dong back then. You and your friend Jung Il-woo were considered ‘kings of visuals’ in Daebang-dong, and rumors even spread to Yeouido. There were things like ulzzangs (those with beautiful looks) of each region”. Lee Min-ho reacted, “I actually got thousands of viewers on my mini homepage”.
He added, “When I was in middle school, I got cast by SM about three times”. Yoo Jae-suk exclaimed, “Your face is definitely SM’s style”.
During the episode, Lee Min-ho also discussed one of his iconic works, the 2009 drama “Boys Over Flowers.” He candidly admitted, “In the drama, my character was a chaebol (conglomerate heir), but in reality, it was the hardest time of my life.”
Reflecting on his role as Goo Junpyo, Lee Min-ho humorously shared, “When I went out for barbecue with friends, they’d say, ‘Why don’t you grill the meat?’ or if I got into a taxi, they’d joke, ‘Why aren’t you opening the car door?’” His anecdotes drew laughter from the audience.
Yoo Jae-suk praised Lee Min-ho’s candid and entertaining storytelling, “Why haven’t you come on the show sooner? You’re so fun!”
