In particular, during her appearance on the July 5 episode of MBC’s variety show “The Manager” (originally “전지적 참견 시점”, also known as “Point of Omniscient Interfere”), Lee Se-hee coolly dismissed the speculation that she hails from the royal Hwasan Yi clan, often cited in viral YouTube and internet posts as having Vietnamese royal roots (known as the “Lý” clan in Vietnam). It was said that a prince from this clan came to Korea after the clan’s dynasty collapsed, leading to descendants of former Vietnamese royalties now residing in Korea.

“I’ve seen those rumors myself,” the actress said candidly, before clarifying, “But I’m actually from the Jeonju Yi clan. People just assumed I was of royal blood, so I let it slide.”

Meanwhile, Lee Se-hee’s name previously gained traction when several media sources and fans highlighted her supposed aristocratic lineage, dubbing her a “Korean actress revered in Vietnam for noble lineage.” However, the actress’s relaxed demeanor showed she found the rumors more amusing than concerning.

Veteran entertainer Lee Young-ja, who appeared alongside Lee on the show, chimed in with a surprising historical connection, “Your ancestor is Admiral Yi Sun-sin”, which Lee confirmed with a nod, acknowledging her ties to the iconic Korean naval commander.
