On July 8, Lee Si-young shared a heartfelt post on her personal social media, announcing, “I am currently pregnant. I decided to share this news myself to prevent any future misunderstandings or speculation.”

She recounted her emotional journey since giving birth to her first son Jungyoon eight years ago. At the time, she was unmarried and filming a drama, admitting she had many regrets about the anxiety and negativity she experienced during that period.

The Embryo Dilemma

Lee revealed that she had undergone IVF treatment during her marriage in preparation for a second child. However, after years passed without using the fertilized embryos and with her divorce underway, she was faced with a decision as the five-year embryo storage period was set to expire.

“When the deadline for frozen embryo storage approached, I chose to proceed with implantation. Although the other party did not consent, I am prepared to bear full responsibility for my decision.”

Lee also emphasized that her choice was guided by a deep emotional bond with her children: “I couldn’t bring myself to discard the embryo. My first child brought me so much joy and meaning—I didn’t want to experience regret again.”

A Life-Changing Choice

Despite anticipating future challenges, Lee remains confident that this was the most meaningful decision she could make: “This child, like my first, has already given me strength and peace. I feel more fulfilled and grateful than ever.”

Lee Si-young previously married a restaurateur nine years her senior in 2017 and gave birth to her son the following year. Earlier this year, she publicly confirmed their divorce.

She concluded her post by thanking fans for their support and promising to raise her child with love, gratitude and responsibility—even as a single parent.

The Husband’s Reaction Revealed

Meanwhile, according to the statement on July 8 from the side of Lee Si-young’s ex-husband (Mr. A), he did not agree to the second pregnancy, as they were in the process of divorce. He had concerns about the child being born into a single-parent household. Although Mr. A admitted he was very shocked by the news of a second child post-divorce, he has expressed to those around him that he intends to take full responsibility as a father, both during the childbirth process and after the baby is born.
