Lee Soo-hyuk Embraces Bold Detective Role in Thriller ‘S-Line’: “If I Do Well, That’s Enough”

Actor Lee Soo-hyuk has shed light on his decision to take on the lead role in the upcoming Wavve fantasy thriller S-Line, sharing his excitement and reflections during a press conference held on July 7 at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul. The event also featured co-stars Lee Da-hee, Arin, Lee Eun-saem, and director Ahn Joo-young.
S-Line is a provocative dark fantasy that delves into the sudden appearance of red strings — “S-Lines” — which visibly connect people who have had sexual relationships. As these connections emerge, the secrets and desires that were once hidden begin to take over their lives, leading to a cascade of suspense and revelation. Lee Soo-hyuk plays Ji-wook, a stoic detective investigating the emergence of these mysterious lines. His counterpart, Lee Da-hee, stars as Gyu-jin, a high school teacher whose warm exterior masks something more ominous.

When asked why he joined the project, Lee shared, “Since I’d be playing a detective, I thought it would be a good chance to show a different kind of charm compared to my past roles. I enjoyed reading the script and felt confident I could show something new by the end of filming.”
He added that Ji-wook’s complex emotional and physical entanglements intrigued him, “Ji-wook has multiple S-Lines, and I was curious how that would play out. During the script readings, the other actors were so good that I felt, ‘If I just do my part well, everything will work,’ which motivated me to bring my best to the role.”
The actor admitted that the daring title and subject matter initially made him hesitate, “When I first heard the title, I was surprised. It’s a bold and provocative concept, so I thought a lot about how to express this character and how the story would handle these themes.”
Despite the suggestive premise, Lee chose to focus on the psychological depth of the characters, “Though the subject is provocative, I focused on how people change when parts of their private lives — things they usually hide — are exposed. I wanted to explore those reactions and the different attitudes people have.”
S-Line will premiere exclusively on Wavve, releasing two episodes each on July 11, 18, and 25 (Fridays) for a total of six gripping episodes. With its blend of mystery, psychological drama, and taboo-breaking themes, the series is already stirring anticipation both at home and abroad.
