“Lee Soo Man: King of K-Pop” Premieres on Amazon Prime, Stirring Debate Over Sensitive Content

On May 13 (U.S. time), the documentary “Lee Soo Man: King of K-Pop,” which highlights Lee Soo-man’s musical journey and cultural influence as a key producer and visionary leader of A2O Entertainment, will be released globally on Amazon Prime.

Ahead of its official release, a “Premiere & After Party” screening was held on May 12 at NeueHouse Hollywood in California, attended by approximately 300 Hollywood music and film industry professionals, actors, singers, MCs, models, and influencers. The event was a resounding success, with over 30 songwriters, including long-time collaborators Dem Jointz, Ferris, Stereotypes, and Tone Stith, adding star power.

Notably, Super Junior’s Choi Siwon and SHINee Taemin, both produced by Lee Soo-man, appeared on the red carpet tightly holding their mentor’s hand, drawing attention from over 100 media representatives. Following them, Girls’ Generation members Tiffany Young, Hyoyeon, and SNSD Sunny, along with A2O MAY members, graced the red carpet, showcasing their elegance.

Hyoyeon, performing as DJ HYO, energized the rooftop after-party with a DJ set against the Hollywood skyline, captivating attendees. She matched Lee Soo-man’s playful dance moves at the turntable, elevating the festive atmosphere.

During the event, Lee Soo-man acknowledged the artists present, stating, “I owe everything to my singers, who are more like family than students. Without their talent and their choice to work with me, I wouldn’t be here today.” He also expressed gratitude to producers Kenzie and Yoo Young-jin, saying, “Thank you for staying by my side and creating the music I envisioned for so long.” Additionally, he thanked director Ting Poo and Amazon Prime Video and MGM Studios, noting, “Thank you for listening to my story with patience, understanding, studying, and analyzing it.”

A2O MAY, a global rookie group recently produced by Lee Soo-man and touted as a contender for the world’s top girl group, expressed, “We’re thrilled and honored to be part of this special night celebrating Lee Soo-man and his new documentary. Thank you, Mr. Lee.” They performed Under My Skin and BOSS, earning enthusiastic cheers. The event also featured A2O Entertainment’s rookie groups, A2O LTB and A2O LTG (low teen boys and girls), currently studying in the U.S., who introduced themselves and delivered an impromptu performance.
