The legal battle following the tragic passing of Kim Sae-ron has taken a new turn, as Bu Ji-seok, who is legally representing the late actress’s family, has been reported to the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) for alleged misconduct.
In particular, on April 29, a complainant identified as Mr. A filed a public interest report against Attorney Bu Ji-seok, accusing him of overstepping his legal advisory role and participating in unlawful activities. Mr. A claims that the attorney not only provided flawed legal advice but also actively disseminated false information while representing the bereaved family’s position. Additionally, A suspects Bu Ji-seok of intervening in the execution of the act as an accomplice.

Meanwhile, Kim Sae-ron’s family previously claimed that actor Kim Soo-hyun had an inappropriate relationship with the late actress when she was a minor. These claims were publicly presented during a press conference, where Bu Ji-seok used provocative terms like “grooming sexual crime”. As a result, A insisted that Attorney Bu abused his responsibility and trust as a legal expert to make false information appear as truth, as well as caused irreparable damage to Kim Soo-hyun’s reputation.

On the other hand, Kim Soo-hyun’s agency há filed a complaint against Kim Sae-ron’s family, a YouTube channel operator, and an individual claiming to be Kim Sae-ron’s aunt, citing violations related to the distribution of unauthorized recordings.
The ACRC is currently reviewing the report against Attorney Bu. The outcome could have implications for legal ethics and the responsibilities of attorneys in high-profile cases.
