At the end of February 2025, Lisa (BLACKPINK) officially released her first full album “Alter Ego”. The extensive project was prepared by the Thai idol and her new company LLOUD for over a year, marking a major milestone in her post-YG career. Lisa’s album was heavily invested in, featuring 15 tracks and collaborations with five international artists: Future, Rosalía, Doja Cat, Raye and Tyla. Multiple physical versions of the album were released to meet fan demand. However, since going solo, Lisa has been embroiled in ongoing controversies.

Recently, Lisa has been accused of fraud for not personally signing albums sold to fans. At this time, the physical versions of “Alter Ego” are being shipped to buyers. Many fans who received their CD/vinyl copies have questioned whether Lisa used an auto-pen (automatic signing machine) due to the striking similarity among all signatures.

Some signatures in Lisa’s new album even match her old autograph from the “LALISA” (2021) promotion period, despite her having changed her signature style. A wave of viral posts on platform X (formerly Twitter) have criticized Lisa for lacking sincerity and have strongly opposed the use of auto-pen.

The controversy has escalated because signed album versions are priced higher and are considered limited editions. Typically, artists are expected to hand-sign such exclusive albums as a gesture of appreciation toward fans and as a strategy to boost sales. Many fans are willing to spend extra money for a one-of-a-kind item with their idol’s signature. If an artist relies on an automated signing tool instead of personally signing, the perceived value of these albums diminishes significantly.
Some of Lisa’s fans have defended her, arguing that the issue lies with the album production and management team. However, the controversy has once again deepened divisions within BLACKPINK’s fandom. In extreme cases, Lisa’s staunch supporters have launched attacks against those accusing her of using auto-pen, pushing the situation further out of control.

Fans who received identical signatures have emailed Lisa’s company demanding refunds. As of now, LLOUD has not provided any response. Neutral observers have pointed out that Lisa is now managing her career independently under LLOUD, meaning she cannot be exempt from responsibility if there are operational and production issues. To maintain transparency and trust, Lisa needs to provide an explanation and a reasonable resolution, as this matter directly affects the legitimate rights of fans who purchased the album in support of her.
