The dress code for the Met Gala 2025 was “Tailored for You”—a play on words encouraging guests to wear custom-made outfits that reflect their personal identity. Attendees were urged to explore menswear-inspired silhouettes in their own way, from 1940s jazz-era zoot suits to bold, colorful designs.
However, not everyone scored points on the red carpet. Many looks were deemed among the least impressive of fashion’s biggest night.
Heidi Klum wore a plain black dress with white embroidery running down both sides by Vetements. The long train caused her to trip multiple times. The design was criticized for being boring and lacking highlights.

Lorde opted for a simple gray satin outfit by Thom Browne, paired with a matching blazer draped over her shoulders. In New York’s rainy weather, the outfit made her appear even more forgettable.

Emma Chamberlain drew attention in a backless pinstripe suit dress with large cutouts on both sides of the waist. She paired it with sheer gloves and small round sunglasses, but the overall look was criticized as overly flashy.

Intouch Weekly included Lisa (BLACKPINK) in its list of worst-dressed celebrities. “The no-pants look combined with sheer Louis Vuitton fishnet tights made the whole outfit look like an unfinished costume,” the outlet commented.

Ciara’s dress brought to mind the dangling pearl chains from Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala 2023 outfit, but this time, it lacked the same impact.

Shakira wore a bubblegum pink dress with a voluminous skirt—a silhouette considered tired and outdated, especially since many female celebrities wore similar styles in 2024, often associated with Giambattista Valli.

Walton Goggins, currently in his prime thanks to The White Lotus, appeared in an outfit that looked incomplete and underwhelming for such a major fashion event.

Olympic legend Simone Biles wore a short blue dress with a large bow in the back and a flowing train. Critics said the overall look felt too youthful for her mature and powerful presence.

Jill Kargman went for a gothic style with a black velvet polka-dot dress, puffed sleeves, white collar and matching mesh gloves. Though eye-catching, the ensemble was deemed heavy and lacking refinement.

Tom Francis chose a plain beige suit with satin trim and black velvet shoes. The look was labeled dull and not in line with the theme’s spirit.

Wendi Murdoch wore a custom two-piece suit by Thom Browne featuring gold-plated details and a headpiece resembling copper wire. The look was called overly complicated and chaotic.

Maya Hawke appeared in a pale pink silk Prada dress with a corset and a brown cape. The loosely tied ribbon at the front gave a messy impression, unsuitable for such a grand event.

Venus Williams wore a tennis-inspired sports outfit by Lacoste, which many said was more appropriate for the court than the Met Gala red carpet.

Pamela Anderson received praise for her minimalist, soft makeup. However, her oversized metallic silver dress, though beautiful, was too large and overwhelmed her figure.

Sydney Sweeney still seems to be searching for the perfect Met Gala formula. Her 2025 appearance in a sparkly fringe dress with a round neckline looked like a standard movie premiere choice. The overly tanned skin and overstyled hair further threw off the overall harmony.
