On the July 15 episode of KBS 1TV’s “Morning Forum – Tuesday Invitation” (tentative title), former f(x) member Luna opened up about the silent battles she faced during her idol years and the unwavering support she received from her family, especially her mother and sister.

Appearing alongside musical actress Choi Jung-won, Luna began by sharing the sacrifices her mother made while raising her. A trained soprano, Luna’s mother had to abandon her singing dreams during the financial hardships of the IMF crisis.

“My mom helped my grandmother run a blood sausage soup restaurant,” Luna recalled, adding,  “She inhaled so much gas while working that she developed chronic bronchitis. Her hands were stained from handling food all day. As a child, I didn’t understand, questioning why my mom’s hands weren’t soft and pretty like other moms, But by the time I turned 14, I saw how much she had suffered. She was such a good singer, beautiful, and bright, so I thought she must have had a hard time, so I practiced diligently.”

Motivated by her mother’s sacrifices, Luna threw herself into relentless practice, beginning at age 14 without a single day off. “I worked hard because I wanted my parents to live comfortably and fulfill their dreams. That desire helped me grow”, she revealed.

Luna then revealed that she experienced a significant health crisis between the ages of 25 and 30, sharing, “I was really sick during that time. I couldn’t meet people. I’d just wake up, go to work, and then rest at home if I could. It was all I could manage. I wasn’t supposed to be alone, so my mom and older sister came with me to every single schedule. They took care of me completely.”

She also confessed that she once considered giving up her career entirely, stating, “I thought I wasn’t worthy of being an idol, singer, or musical actress anymore. But my mom told me, ‘It’s okay to fail. It’s okay to be lacking. You always have a place to return to, so try everything you want to try before deciding to quit.’ Those words helped me endure those five years and recover.”
