K-Pop Idol Announces Sudden Hiatus Amid Sexual Misconduct Scandal Involving Agency CEO

Suhye, a member of rookie K-pop girl group MADEIN, has announced a sudden hiatus from all group activities, her agency confirmed on May 14. The announcement follows escalating controversy surrounding 143 Entertainment’s CEO, who has been accused of sexual misconduct by a former member of the group.

In an official statement, 143 Entertainment explained, “Suhye has decided to take a break due to personal circumstances. This decision was made with the intention of returning to fans in a better condition, and we ask for your kind understanding. We will fully support Suhye so that she can rest comfortably and take the time she needs.”
While the agency did not directly connect Suhye’s hiatus to the unfolding legal dispute, the timing has fueled speculation.
The controversy erupted after a press conference held last month by the mother of a former MADEIN member, identified as “A.” During the conference, the mother—referred to as “B”—accused the agency’s CEO of inappropriate behavior, stating, “My daughter clearly told him to stop touching her body. But the CEO ignored her and subjected her to continued unfair treatment and professional disadvantages.”
According to B, the CEO had initially issued an apology and signed a written pledge promising to resign, protect A from further harm, and honor her contract terms. However, B claimed none of these promises were upheld. A criminal complaint has since been filed against the CEO.

143 Entertainment has denied the allegations, responding, “There are many discrepancies in the claims made by the former member. Last year, the individual demanded a large settlement based on a one-sided account. When we declined, they filed a criminal complaint nearly six months later, which is deeply regrettable.”
MADEIN is a six-member South Korean girl group under 143 Entertainment. Originally debuting as a seven-member group on September 3, 2024, with their EP “RISE,” they have since captivated fans with their dynamic performances. As legal proceedings continue and public scrutiny mounts, Suhye’s break from the spotlight adds another layer of complexity to the agency’s growing crisis. Fans are left concerned for her well-being and the group’s future amid the ongoing scandal.
