On November 22, Min Hee-jin filed a defamation lawsuit against Belift Lab executives, including CEO Kim Tae-ho, over alleged violations of the Information and Communications Network Act. She is also suing the company for 5 billion KRW in damages, rejecting Belift Lab’s claim that a lawsuit against her was delayed due to her actions. Min Hee-jin accused the executives of spreading false information about her in videos and press statements, seeking criminal penalties for them.

This comes after Belift Lab filed a 20 billion KRW (approx. 14.2 million USD) lawsuit against Min Hee-jin, accusing her of falsely claiming ILLIT copied NewJeans. Min Hee-jin had criticized the similarities between the two groups, but Belift Lab denied the allegations. A court hearing for both lawsuits is scheduled for January 10, 2024.
Min Hee-jin is also facing a 5 billion KRW (around 3.5 million USD) lawsuit from Source Music, another HYBE subsidiary, with its hearing set for the same day. Min Hee-jin announced her resignation from ADOR and HYBE on November 20, citing unresolved disputes and HYBE’s refusal to acknowledge their mistakes.
