The Ministry’s response, recently shared on an online community, seems to contradict Min’s statements.

On November 20, a post titled “Min Hee-jin and BTS V Text Complaint Response” was uploaded to an online community.

This followed Min’s appearance on the “Kim Young-dae’s School of Music” program on October 29, where she mentioned receiving messages from V during her conflict with HYBE.

On the broadcast, Min stated, “V occasionally calls me from the military. It’s to the point where I ask, ‘Are you really in the military?’ He’s always so cheerful and lively. When I was going through a tough time, he called and asked, ‘Are you okay, sister?’ He even sent me a text message on my birthday early in the morning, and I was deeply touched by how kind and thoughtful he is.”

Her claims, intended to showcase their close relationship, instead backfired. Critics pointed out inconsistencies in her story. According to Min, her birthday is December 16, while V enlisted on December 11. This timeline implies that he sent the message just five days into his basic training as a recruit, raising questions about whether he received special privileges to use a phone at that time.

One netizen filed a complaint with the Ministry of Defense, claiming, “This is a serious violation of military rules. I suspect that the superiors turned a blind eye to his phone use because he’s a famous K-pop idol.”

The complainant further argued, “Min said the message was sent while V was still in basic training, less than a week after his enlistment. Recruits are not allowed leave or access to their phones except for one hour on weekends. Scheduling a message in advance is also not possible in this context.”

After that, the Ministry of Defense denied any special treatment.

According to the complaint response shared on November 20, the Military Police Division 802 stated, “At the Army Training Center where Kim Tae-hyung (V’s real name) was stationed, recruits are permitted to use their phones for one hour on weekends and public holidays. Kim Tae-hyung used the phone according to the Army Training Center’s guidelines, during the designated afternoon usage period, not the early morning.

The Ministry further clarified, “There was no instance where Kim Tae-hyung was specially allowed or his phone usage overlooked. However, specific details of the conversations, including the exact time and content, cannot be disclosed due to the Personal Information Protection Act and the Protection of Communications Secrets Act.”

According to the Ministry of Defense’s response, there are reactions suggesting that former CEO Min Hee-jin’s claim of receiving a message from V early in the morning might be false.
